I'm updating a day late (sorry!) but here my post is all the same. I had some fun playing with flowers, which I enjoy doing. All these shots were taken on the same day, with the same camera that was used for my last post, the Nikon Cool Pix. The overcast weather helps with bringing out the contrasts and if you're taking pictures of people so they don't squint or have weird lighting.

This is one of my dogs, Addy. Pet shots are great if you can get them to stay still long enough. It's by sheer luck I got this one.

A really cool shot of some tulips.

These are apple blossoms, this is one of my favorite pictures I've ever taken.

This is a good use of framing, maybe a bit too good, the branches take up the majority of the picture.

That's it for now.

This post has quite a few outside shots. They were taken with my old camera, a point-and-shoot Nikon Cool Pix(about 4 megapixels) instead of my current camera, a Nikon D40X, which is a digital SLR camera(10 megapixels) so I apologize if they're blurry. These were all taken in the woods behind my house, in case anyone was interested.

Yes, I live next to a corn field. A good use of borders, lines and rule of thirds I thought.

I like to play with the sun a lot, as illustrated here. Playing with sun and shadows can be a lot of fun, I definitely recommend it.

Black and white are also a lot of fun, but very addicting.

My First Post!

So this is my first post... I aim to keep them short and simple, with a few pictures of mine in each post with a short blurb on each picture giving a bit of a background or explanation if it's needed. This blog is being used for my Web Reporting class, and is the main reason behind this blog, although I enjoy my photography as do my family and friends, so i thought I'd share the wealth. I take pictures of the outdoors, as well as my dogs and cats, so they might be sprinkled through my pictures.
I'll start off with some pictures I took when I went to California, since it's cold and snowy here.

I really like this cave-type thing. The lighting was interesting

And in this shot there was a bird flying by the opposite end.

That's enough for now, next post will be on Wednesday.
